Here for sale is a rebuilt lightweight, previously sold by us several years ago – but due to personal circumstances of the current keeper, we are delighted to be able to present it for sale once again. As can be seen from the spec, this is one special lightweight – it has been rebuilt onto a new galvanised chassis, and during that time, many other upgrades and improvements were made, to make it go as well as it looks. On the surface this looks like a nice, standard lightweight, sporting all the desirable bits and bobs one hopes to see – military lighting, bumperettes front and rear, bonnet mounted spare etc etc…..but in addition to that new chassis, the vehicle as been retro fitted with the highly acclaimed 200tdi, giving much better economy, power and reliability….in fact twice the power, and twice the economy, whilst improving reliability through the unburstable nature of the Land Rover ® diesel engine. An overdrive lengthens the ratios to give more relaxed cruising, free wheeling hubs reduce wear and improve economy and the kenlowe fan also helps with this too. A stainless larger bore exhaust improves power and longevity of the system, and uprated suspension softens the ride, giving more compliancy. The net effect here is a much improved driving experience over standard, and is ideal for the lightweight owner who wants to use it more than he wants to look at it!

The outside bodywork is nice and straight, and a set of knobbly tyres gives the vehicle a strong presence. There’s a handy towbar with twin electrics, so this would be an ideal tow vehicle, with that strong chassis and powerful engine.

The inside is a nice “standard” interior, with three front seats and mats.  The rear is also already fitted with twin rear bench seats and a canvas with side windows (a nice upgrade) allows for passenger comfort. A rear load mat completes the look. The front dash of the lightweight is nice and original too, so it still oozes the period charm one hopes to see in a good lightweight. The twin tank system also still survives with change over tap, giving this vehicle a massive range! All very good to see!

In summary, this is a high spec lightweight, that we have known for several years. With everything it comes with, it is sure to be a great vehicle to own and run – cheaper fuel costs, military preferencial insurance rates and tax exemption in the coming years give the promise of low running costs for the future….and add in some appreciation, how much better can it get! We love it!
