For sale, Land Rover® 110 Tithonus in Drab Olive (1994) *RARE LHD*
MOT just passed. Diesel 2500cc. Very low mileage of around 50,000 miles.
This is a commissioned sale on behalf of a customer.
Here for sale is without doubt the nicest ex-military 110 we have seen. This beautiful example is a rare LHD version, and was cherry picked by the previous owner, it being the nicest one around. To those of you who are not familiar with the TITHONUS, they were fully refurbished and uprated 110s that were currently held at the time by the military. They each had a build price of around £14,000 which completely up specified them over the standard issue. As the base models were indoor stored, low mileage 110s, the resulting vehicle was just stunning – the chassis, bulkhead and engines were all superb, and this is no different. The chassis is fantastic, the bulkhead spot on, and the bodywork really good for an army example. Extras included a 24v generator, internal and external roll cages, plastic covered canvas, sound proofing throughout and even extra insulation to the canvas, superb “Outlast” seating to all three front seats, plus twin benches to rear, plus a host of other unseen upgrades, the best of which is the R380, 5 speed gearbox for much better driving on road.
Chris, the current owner, sourced this LHD as he wanted to also use it on the continent – but it will of course function over here too – and as it is LEZ compliant, it can be used in and around London – then blast over the channel to the holiday retreat on the continent – and we know it will do journeys like that because Chris has used it for long trips himself. Indeed, this vehicle was driven in from London! The journey went without issue, and the under bonnet looked cool, clean and dry, even after a run of that length – but that doesn’t really surprise us, as not only is this one very clean truck with low mileage, but Chris has recently spent several thousands of pounds on it in recent servicing and improving it – some of this was finer detailing (eg rubber seals and the like). Infact, we noticed that despite a wet trip of 200 miles, the interior was nice and dry and warm!
The interior is quite breathtaking, and was difficult to photograph in the dull wet conditions of the day, but it smells like a new car in there – it is immaculately clean, and Chris’s eye for detail and cleanliness really shows. Even the rear is presented to a very high standard. The seats and dash are a delight, and even the dials are polished – it really is that good.
Externally, it’s very obvious that this is no no normal 110, and the military extras make it an extremely cool car – right down to the military tyres and wheels. Naturally, Chris put a new MOT on this truck when he brought it up to us – that’s what he’s like! There is also a full “Merlin” military history supplied, so that’s also of great interest.
In summary then, this is an incredibly rare vehicle – if you wanted another you’d have to hunt around ex military suppliers and pay over the odds for a tatty example, pay VAT, not get any MOT or assurance it runs ok….then you’d have to spend ages doing it up, or improving it, at even further expense. Buy this, and you dont’ have to do any of that – it’s serviced up, running beautifully on that great chassis with low mileage, with a fresh MOT.
If we could think of a reason to keep this we would, as we really feel it’s going to be the best example of its type around – if you are the sort of person who likes things clean and “right”, we would have no hesitation in recommending this to anyone.
