This classic car retracting lap belt offers extra safety for occupant seats. This belt extends to fit the lock when seated and automatically retracts when not. 

The webbing length is approximately 110cm (1.1m) long when fully extended.

Do vintage cars need seat belts?

Before 1964, cars were made without safety features such as seatbelts. After this date, all cars must have seat belts which should be worn at all times. If you own a classic car that has no seat belts fitted, there is no law that states that you have them fitted. However, if they are fitted it is a legal requirement that you wear them. 

If you drive your vintage vehicle regularly, installing seat belts will aid the comfort and safety of you and your passengers. 

What year were seat belts made compulsory? 

In 1983, seat belts were made compulsory in new cars. It was from then onwards that the law required all drivers and passengers to wear a seat belt.
