We are delighted to present for sale this Land Rover® Defender 90 – finished in Liquid Silver with Limestone Wolf Wheels & Roof. This particular example benefits from both just four former keepers, alongside a strong history with every MOT since 1999 in the paperwork – this vehicle was not registered until 1999, as we believe it was used on a family estate – it has only covered 3300 miles each year since new. In times past, a galvanised chassis has also been fitted, to ensure longevity for the future.

Externally, as the photos show, this really is a pretty thing – with colour coded lamp surrounds, new galvanised front bumper with rubberised end caps, wolf wheels with all-terrain tyres, station wagon type roof, rear mounted spare on a SwingAway wheel carrier and soft wheel cover – the list goes on, and on – right down to the rear mud flaps with the original Land Rover® logo on them – a lovely touch. The whole package creates quite a vehicle to look at – it turns heads and attracts lots of positive attention whether in the city, the country or just at the beach.

On the inside, there are two front deluxe high back seats, complete with 3 point inertia belts. There is a central cubby box, which is handy for keeping items out of sight, along with cupholders, which are welcome for the drive through. There are deluxe mats in the front footwells, which are on top of a deluxe trim set which covers the seat box, the transmission tunnel, and the internal bulkhead – this keeps things clean, as well as reducing cabin noise. The rear houses a pair of rear bench seats, meaning seating for six people including the driver – there is a load mat to the floor area to protect against damage. The addition of sliding rear windows means that, no matter where you sit, there is a light and airy feel as you drive along… the driver also finds things easier thanks to the ability to check blindspots while driving.

Out on the road is where this really shines though – the 200TDI engine is a joy, which is mated to power steering, coil springs, a five speed gearbox and disc brakes – this means it feels like a modern Defender 90 to drive… HOWEVER (and those who follow our ads will guess where this is going!), despite the creature comforts it has no computerisation whatsoever – no sensors, no onboard computer and no requirement for diagnostic tools – this means you can maintain this vehicle with a basic tool kit and a £15 Haynes manual – or if you aren’t handy – any local “old school” garage can fix it, meaning you won’t have to pay main dealer labour rates. In four years time, this Defender will also benefit from road tax and MOT exemption – and unlike its later, post 2001 brothers and sisters – it doesn’t attract a £800 per year road tax bill – it is just £350 a year. As it is 36 years old, it also benefits from classic insurance, to keep premiums down.

So – you fancy a Defender 90, but you don’t want to be chasing tricky electrical faults, paying huge yearly insurance and road tax bills, or getting stiffed by the main dealer – then this is the one to buy. It looks great, it drives well thanks to turbo diesel injection, and your whole family can come along – it is as close as “having your cake and eating it” that you can really get – we can even fit Apple CarPlay and Android Auto and USB charging for a nominal cost, should you want it.
