Land Rover ® 101 FC GS *Tax and MOT Exempt* (MRX)

For sale, Land Rover ® 101 Forward Control General Service in Drab Olive (1976). 

MOT exempt. Tax Exempt. Original 3500cc V8. Overdrive. High Ratio Gears. Parabolic Springs. Just four previous keepers since release from military in 1994.

Here for sale we have this rare 101 Forward Control in popular right hand drive soft-top configuration. As can be seen by the photos, this vehicle has survived in excellent condition – perhaps the nicest 101 we’ve had the pleasure of owning. On the outside many period features survive including pioneer tools mounted to the front, bridging plate, fire extinguisher, front and rear NATO hitches, uprated stainless steel tank, good tyres all round and a recent canvas. All of this combined makes for a really handsome and head turning machine. 

The interior is also well appointed with a pair of rear bench seats, spare mounted in the correct place behind the drivers head, gun clips and a set of uprated seats with headrests for increased interior comfort. A set of floor mats have been fitted to the front footwells.

Out on the road is where this vehicle stands out from other 101s….. the combination of a whisper quiet, free revving v8 mated to the high ratio gearbox AND overdrive equates to a superb driving experience – this vehicle really flies and is an utter joy to drive. It really does sound great too, and fires up with the first turn of the key. 

Within the pack of documents there is a £1800 bill for a recent full service, which was extremely extensive and included oil filters, spark plugs, manifold gaskets, ball joint renewal kits and a rear exhaust. This perhaps is why this vehicle feels so good on the road.

In summary then, if you are looking for a low owner, original V8 101 with lots of recent TLC carried out, then this could be for you. With the rarity of RHD V8 101’s ever increasing, it should prove to be a sound investment whilst also looking great and driving far better than a standard 101 is capable of with the subtle mechanical upgrades.
