A word from our Director, John Brown Sr:
Hi everybody,
With Christmas just around the corner, I thought I’d write to you all personally to keep you informed of what is going on at the moment here at the John Brown 4×4 HQ.
The months of October and November were so very busy due to your continued support for our products – so much so that we were working right to the end of November on sold and reserved vehicles for those months. That has left us with a predicament of having the same volume of customers and enquiries, but without the depth of stock that we normally enjoy.
To meet with the ever increasing demands of the company, we have been scouring the area for suitable staff to join us during these exciting times of expansion. Having rooted through an awful lot of applicants, we have been fortunate enough to land three fantastic new members of the team.
Pictured below is Todd – he comes to us with many years of experience in body prep and painting and will be running our spray shop full time. His enthusiasm for his work is infectious and he’s already made himself very much at home with our core team.
Starting alongside him is Kyle, who comes to us having worked on Series Land Rovers® for a number of years. He is not just a mechanic – he comes with that innate enthusiasm for the Land Rover® brand. He is working alongside Steven, Chad and Graham in the workshop conducting the mechanical prep of our stock.
Chan is also pictured below and has been working for us, for a short while now. He is Sudanese and is completing his mechanical engineering degree at Teesside University alongside working with the team in the workshop. He is responsible for a variety of duties, which he always does with a keen smile! He is very much a part of the team now and we do hope that his VISA regulations will allow him to stay with us in the future.
The new and expanding team at HQ have been working flat out, including working a variety of weekends and evenings to prepare sold vehicles for December as well as one big final push until we close on December 20th 2024 to bring another 5 vehicles to market. As our followers will know, whether a vehicle looks ready to sell or not, it must pass through our inspection and improvement programme before it becomes available for sale. We have a good stock of vehicles awaiting preparation and the bigger team will allow us to get these to market in a much more timely fashion.
Next week, we have just five days until the workshop closes for a week for Christmas, to get all our jobs done! We will be taking a well earned break but we will be reopening in-between Christmas and New Year so that people who purchase online during Christmas week will be able to take receipt of their vehicles before or around New Year.
I was able to spend the day at HQ today, to assist in a variety of ways…. I don’t always get the chance to attend every day so it is a real treat for me to come into the workshop and see the guys working so well together. I conducted a handover to Malcolm – and this was a really rewarding experience. Malcolm started his driving experience in a Series Land Rover®, and in his own words, he wanted to “complete his driving years” in the same. He said he found our website online and chose us because of the reputation that we have. It is always nice to hear those words – nobody is perfect but I can sit here now and tell you that, as a team, we strive to bring the best customer service and deliver the best products possible given their age and price point. It is a difficult channel to navigate at times, but that doesn’t stop us from trying! Malcolm was belted into his new toy, with a huge smile on his face and with lights on and wipers wiping, he drove off like a pro, back to the Yorkshire Dales. We wish him a really happy time with his new toy!
