For sale, Land Rover® Dormobile in Light Pastel Green (1973).

MOT until 14th August 2017 (just passed) and Tax Exempt. Beautiful, Land Rover 6 cylinder petrol engine. Overdrive.

Here we have for sale a rare and stunning Carawagon, complete with Dormatic seats. It’s a four berth, Martin Walter conversion, which are held in high regard, and fairly rare examples.

The conversion is very well thought out, and the dormatic seats are very useable – they instantly convert to a pair of comfortable beds (well sprung and nice and flat) or a dining room can be created using the stowed away table, as pictured. There are also a pair of hammock style beds in the pop top roof, which potentially allow two to sleep whilst retaining the kitchen/dining room set up – ideal for practical camping – in fact this conversion is well designed for comfortable living – the full height roof allows for loads of headroom, and it’s fitted with a paid of windows plus a ventilation window – this gives a caravan like feel to the interior, which is so much better than crawling around. There is a pop out seat in the kitchen area, so you can even cook a meal comfortably without stooping or kneeling – all very well thought out.The cooker is plumbed in and working, via the gas bottle stored under the vehicle. There is even a little sink to brush your teeth before bed, so no need to walk across to the shower block! There is a full compliment of curtains, which afford complete privacy and allow you to enjoy a private evening inside, with a glass of wine, a good book and some music! There is a 12v strip light fitted which works off the car battery, and gives good illumination, far safer than the original gas light.

Out on the road, this old truck drives unbelieveably well, being a genuine 6 cylinder. There’s loads of power, and she runs faultlessly – sounding amazing in the process. In short she is a joy to drive, and with that overdrive and smart 750 tyres, she cruises beautifully at relaxed revs. We can just imagine a family of four taking her on long trips across the continent, with the kids sitting at the dining table colouring in as you travel!

Amazingly. the Dormobile company still exists, and there is a healthy spares catalogue to keep it looking and running great. A copy of the catalogue is included in the sales pack, which also contains lots of old MOTs and receipts.
