We are delighted to present for sale this 1985 Land Rover® 90, which has been rebuilt onto a galvanised chassis in times past. This truck has an absolutely monster spec – and is one of the very early Land Rover® 90s… it is now officially MOT and Tax exempt, and benefits from an enormous specification – read on below!

Externally, the bodywork is finished in Oxford Blue – the previous keeper told us that this was a “nod” to the Series 1 Land Rovers® of the same colour – the most notable being our own example which resides on The Royal Yacht Britannia. As the photos show – this Land Rover® is in “truck cab” format with black tonneau cover – should a full hard top or a soft top be desired, we can quote for this. The spec in all areas of this build is huge – from the super cool sawtooth alloys, to the Hankook tyres, bonnet mounted spare, LED lights with uprated front halogen main lights, day time running lights in the bumper with new rubber end caps, to the galvanised rock sliders down the sides and grab handles at the rear… we really hope the photos do justice to such a cool truck.

On the inside, there are two front XS Half Leather heated seats, with a full rubberised deluxe matting set throughout – a cubby box is fitted to keep items out of sight, and there are cup holders for the drive through. A good pair of speakers is fitted, mated to the front touch screen, which supports both Apple CarPlay and Android Auto – absolutely mega for those who are used to such in their modern car! The whole front interior locks too, with a quick release steering wheel and a pedal guard, which are welcomed to deter theft. The rear is an unfitted load space with a black cover – easily removable if the load space is needed. Should you wish for a change of format, either through the fitment of a rear canvas and sticks, a full soft top, or a hard top – we can do all this, have items ready to fit and can quote to do the job in just a few days…. we like the truck cab format though, as it is a smaller space to heat in the winter, quieter due to a smaller cabin, and more secure too.

We’ve not got onto the best bit of this Land Rover® yet though – this is a galvanised chassis rebuild, which not only benefits from MOT & Tax exemption, but also drives sensationally – with power steering and disc brakes, coil springs and 5 speed gearbox, and the famed 300TDI engine – this truck is rapid, and drives just like a modern 90 – the only difference is, you no longer have to pay £500-700 in road tax every year, and it no longer requires an MOT either. This is one of the very first “modern” Land Rovers® which benefits from all this – when one compares the previous model year, which would be a Series 3 with a 4 speed gearbox, leaf springs, drum brakes, no power steering, and 50bhp – well, one can see the appeal here! This really is a Land Rover® you could use as your everyday car, without the draw backs, and without the yearly prohibitive costs… it even qualifies for low cost, classic insurance. Thanks to the old style mechanics of this particular vehicle, you can mend it yourself with an £11 Haynes Manual, or take it to any competent garage – no OBD, no ECU – just good, old fashioned mechanics which can be fixed, no matter where you find yourself, and no more being a slave to a main dealer.

We are finding that Land Rover® 90s such as this are becoming seriously hot property – for all the reasons outlined above – and we are getting many requests for ones which spec just like this. The truth is – they’re rare to find, especially rebuilt like this, with all these mega extras fitted. If you’d called us to register your interest for one of these – our answer would be – we’d love one too! – it isn’t an easy find, and it would be a vehicle of significantly larger expense than this. We are sure it won’t last in stock, and if you are reading this to find it has been reserved and are planning to call to bag the next one… this is where the issue lies, as it is very unlikely we will see a full package like this, that is also exempt from MOT and tax, any time soon.
