For sale, Land Rover® 109 Station Wagon in Marine Blue (1981)

This is a super 109 with an incredible history – It was supplied new by Clive MacDonald Smith Motors on 5th September 1981, and sold to Mr Heathcock of Bridlington. He owned the vehicle until 2012, at which point Clive once again acquired it. Clive acts as a consultant within the company, and is called in to solve intricate problems which require the level of expertise that only comes with many many years in the business. Clive was a technical advisor for LRO magazine and is held in high regard by everyone in the Series Land Rover® world!

During its life, this 109 was fully rebuilt by Clive, at which point a new galvanised chassis was fitted. The interior was also refinished, and that is why it survives in such good condition….it’s so very unusual to now find a 109 station wagon with such a nice interior (please see photos), particularly the head lining and door cards. Even the interior light works as it should (see photo).

Since we purchased the vehicle a new radiator has been fitted (the old one worked OK but the cores had deteriorated), and a brand new full set of tyres finishes the look off.

The badge on the rear indicates the rebuild by CMS Motors, and on the reverse it says “Supplied by CMS Motors”, so it really is a fantastic opportunity to by a unique vehicle that’s been known to us from new, rebuilt, been used by only one person, that has survived in such clean and original condition. (This is important as replacement trim for 109s is almost impossible to find). Added to this desirability, the spec is very good with the overdrive, free wheeling hubs and galvanised chassis – meaning that not only should this be a very useable vehicle, but should prove to be a very sound investment.
