We are delighted to present for sale this sweet 1975 Series 3 Land Rover®, presented in Marine Blue with Limestone Wheels & Recent Sand Canvas. We purchased this vehicle from a lady in Oxfordshire, who had owned it since 2008 and used it as a daily run about for local trips… due to a change in circumstances meaning a loss of storage, it is now presented for sale with us.

Those who know us tend to be aware we stay away from naming vehicles – many dealers do this to attempt a somewhat sly “tug on the heart strings”. However – we were told by the lady we purchased this vehicle from she is called Gloria – see the photo – and we MUST call her Gloria… so we will make an exception for this one.

Externally, as the photos show, this has all the features you’d hope to see on a Series 3 – from the wing top mounted mirrors to the bonnet mounted spare, rear mud flaps, rear lifting handles, silver headlight surrounds, recent sand canvas, original galvanised cappings.. etc etc. There are some modern features, most notable being the fitment of a tow bar with electrics to allow towing, should it be required. In our opinion, we think this Series 3 looks just as it should – no frilly additions, just period motoring at its best. 750 road biased tyres are fitted to fill the arches and give a positive stance, whilst improving road holding. It hasn’t been brought to a retail shiny finish, but it is a nice, original and honest truck, as the photos show.

On the inside, there are three front deluxe seats, with a deluxe transmission tunnel cover and matting to the footwells. The outer seats benefit from 3 point belts, so the driver and passenger can be transported safely – should a centre lap belt be required, we can fit one for £195 including the safety inspection. The rear is currently unfitted with the exception of a floor mat to protect against scratches and damage… should the new keeper wish for rear benches to be fitted, which would allow for seven occupants including the driver, these can be fitted for £595 inclusive of VAT. However, we are mindful that many wish to carry a bike, or a picnic basket, or the dogs – and therefore we’d rather leave this up to the new keeper and their individual circumstances.

Where this car stands apart from its peers is through both its recent history and evidence of recent servicing – as per the photos this vehicle comes with an OEM Series 3 owners manual, alongside a Haynes Workshop Manual, which would allow you to maintain all aspects of this vehicle at home with a basic tool kit. There is even the original colour brochure from British Leyland, which would’ve been supplied so the prospective owner could “spec up” their Series 3. There are also old MOTs back to 2005. When this vehicle came into the workshop, our auto electrician Graham noted evidence of recent servicing – from the recently greased battery terminals and bonnet catch – during his standard electrics check which he carries out on each vehicle we sell. During our inspection schedule, as one would expect, we check all major systems – this includes removing door cards to check and grease the door locks – and behind the drivers card, we found stickers for each yearly service completed between 2020 & 2025… and this would tally with our findings. This was a great find – service history is often misplaced as a vehicle gets older, and having confidence in a recent thorough service history is great to note.

Driving this Series 3 is a joy – the larger rubber gives a more relaxed cruise to extend the gearing, with a more road biased tread giving a better road holding experience. The evidence of this servicing can be felt whilst driving – we often have to “set them up” and adjust carburettor mixture and tick over, and lubricate steering and clean out brake drums – not required here. We always go into every braking system even if perfect, to give them a thorough clean – it is clear to us this was recently done when we removed the drums. The original test drive, prior to inspection, was very undramatic and that is what we like to see.

In summary – if you are looking for a well cared for summer ragtop – which benefits from low classic insurance premiums as well as tax and MOT exemption – this has to be worth consideration. We’re fans of this truck and thanks to the vast majority of the hard work being done for us in this case, we’ve managed to pass on a little more value to you than usual as the end customer – we are always fighting to keep prices as low as possible, whilst keeping the standard of our vehicles as high as you’d expect, in line with our reputation – and in this case, we (and you, should you buy it) are onto a winner!
