For sale, on behalf of a client, Grinnall Scorpion III in Performance Blue (2011).
Here we have for sale a rare to find Grinnall Scorpion III – especially in condition such as this, in such a late year (2011) with the highest performance engine – the BMW K40 K1200S Transverse unit. This vehicle is running 167bhp and weighs just 390kg. With a sequential gearbox, with “pull” for up, and “push” for down – one can imagine this makes for quite the driving experience!
As the photos show, the bodywork is in good order, and everything fitted – the indicators and the headlights, along with the brake light – work as they should. We believe this is painted in Ford Performance Blue, based on swatches and the current owners comments.
On the inside, there is seating for two people, with full harnesses for safety – a pair of helmets are included with face visor so that you can travel safely and in comfort – these are not required by law, but are nice to keep the wind and bugs out of your face…. this machine really can move at a serious pace, so you are well advised to wear a helmet!
As one can imagine, with a sequential gearbox and a 167bhp race bike engine, this Grinnall is fantastic to drive – one can fly through the gears at a lightning speed – it really is just like a superbike, only you are sat down, rather than astride it – and you can drive this on a normal car license! It has been looked after with no regard for cost, though it has been utterly reliable as it is a very simple system, which BMW fitted to many road bikes for a period of almost a decade. Though we are not able to provide a warranty with this vehicle, as it is a private sale between you and the current keeper, we know it has been fantastic to own, and has been kept as a toy for a warm, weekend day. The ride is even much better than you’d expect from the shots – it is only being sold due to space constraints.
If you are looking for a toy this summer which will create a stir no matter if on the move, or at a car meet – this has to be worth considering. You don’t see them – they’re smaller and faster than an Aerial Atom, and they don’t depreciate in comparison.
