Land Rover® Series 2a 109 *Ex-Military Soft Top* (NAB)

For Sale, on behalf of a customer, Land Rover Series 2a 109 in Drab Olive Green (1966).

MOT & Tax Exempt. Petrol 2286cc. Unmolested Ex Military 109, 24v, Released 1993, 63750 original and documented miles. Military reg is 18 E R17.

Here we have for sale, on commission, a rare Series 2a ex military. This, along with one other listed on our stock page, belong to the revered Clive Mac Donald Smith – a former LRO technical guru who was employed to troubleshoot faults for the general public. He owned a mulititude of vehicles, retaining just two of particular interest – and these are now finally to be let go, as his age advances!

This rare 109 went into service in 1966 with !st Battalion Wessex Regiment, where it remained until it was cast off in 1993, with a mileage of 45,784. The cast off certificate still survives which is quite unusual for a vehicle of this type…..and being a 24 volt model (90amp)  it will have been used as a radio truck for the thick end of 30 years in the forces – who knows where it has served!

As can be seen from the photos, this vehicle has been completely preserved in original condition, and has never been subject to either cosmetic or mechanical refurbishment. It’s NOT a mock up, so would be a great show vehicle for the military enthusiast.

The exterior and interior of this rare beast are typical military spec, with all the knobs and whistles one would hope to see – there’s even a set of elephant hide seats either side of the battery box! Suffice to say, we trust the photos demonstrate just how original this truck is.

Over the years, Clive has enjoyed maintaining this old girl (it runs and drives) and has shown it at a variety of events – he’s very keen that it goes to someone who appreciates the military rarity associated with it!
