Land Rover® Series 3 *Galv Chassis Rebuild - High Spec* (OPL)

Sold

For sale, Land Rover® Series 3 in Light Pastel Green (1971).

MOT Exempt. Tax Exempt. 2500cc Petrol. Galvanised Chassis Rebuild. Free Wheeling Hubs. Overdrive. Brand new 750 tyres. Seven Seats.

We are delighted to present this extremely high specification Series 3, which we have sold before. This vehicle was actually the last one to leave our old premises, several years ago, and so has a special place in our hearts! She has been coined "Old Pretty Girl Lily" due to her numberplate, OPL - and has had this name for as long as we've known her.

On the outside, the vehicle has lots of pleasing period features, such as the vintage numberplates, rear grab handles, wing-mounted mirrors and recent period correct front grill. The vehicle benefits from a recent set of hood sticks and sand canvas too. We have fitted a set of our brand new 750 chevron tyres - this gives better gearing to exploit the additional power of the 2500cc petrol, whilst also aiding stance - they are also self cleaning and give unrivalled on and off road capabilities. There is also a towbar and electrics fitted, along with a height adjustable plate for convenience. This vehicle has excellent paintwork and has evidently been subject to a full respray in times past - not a rush job, and the bodywork is remarkably straight - most likely done during the rebuild procedure! As such, she really holds up to the accolade of 'pretty girl!'.

On the inside, the vehicle has three recent standard front seats, along with deluxe matting to the footwells. The rear houses a pair of bench seats to increase seating to seven. There is also some deluxe trim to the front of the bulkhead, which aids with sound deadening at speed. There are two inertia belts in the front for the driver and passenger, and four belts in the rear for the benches - so six can be belted (a centre lap for £95 would allow even the middle front seat to have a belt!),

Out on the road, Lily really shines - the later but identical looked 2500c petrol engine (fitted to the early defender) gives better power (and more reliability, being a 5 main bearing engine, which is a stronger unit), and the tyres along with the overdrive make cruising a much more pleasant experience - far better than a normal Series 3 and much more pleasant and suited to more frequent use. The free wheeling hubs also ensure the return of better economy, whilst limiting wear to the front axle, which is a nice touch. All in all, it delivers a superb driving experience for a Series 3 Land Rover®...... about as good as it gets without going into large levels of expense on the engine.

In summary then, if you are looking for a fully rebuilt Series 3, with a galvanised chassis, seating for seven, nice bodywork and paintwork in one of the most popular colour schemes, classic insurance and MOT and Tax Exemption, then this could be for you. This vehicle should prove to be both cheap and a hoot to own and run, whilst also being solid investment for the future - we actually paid the owner more for the vehicle back than we sold it for!
