Land Rover ® Series 3 109 *300TDI Station Wagon* (BPH)

Sold

For sale, Land Rover ® Series 3 109 Station Wagon in Deep Bronze Green (1983).

MOT until 24th September 2019 with no advisories. 300TDI engine. Safari Roof with Alpine Lights. 750 tyres.

We are delighted to present for sale this LWB Station Wagon, in popular Deep Bronze Green. On the outside, there are many period features such as the bonnet mounted spare, rear grab handles, original galvanised cappings and front lifting eyes. Some modern additions have been made, such as the larger defender-style door mirrors for additional visibility and a towball and electrics to allow towing. Front lamp guards improve the frontal appearance. A rear spot has been fitted with a switch to the dash - useful for camping, shooting, or even as a large reverse light! There is also a rear cat-flap back door fitted - this is the first generation of the split tailgate now found on Range Rovers, allowing a place to sit whilst sheltering from the weather. The vehicle sits on 750 tyres to lengthen gearing and increase cruising speeds, whilst giving a good stance and better on and off road ability.

On the inside, the front seats are an uprated defender style, with integrated headrests and central cubby box for additional storage. Quality soundproof matting is fitted to the footwells and transmission tunnel. A working radio has been fitted to the drivers footwell with speakers in the headliner. Also fitted to the underneath of the dash are a pair of 12v sockets, which are useful for charging phones, or using a plug-in Satellite Navigation system. The second row of seats are the standard type, with three fitted. The very rear of the vehicle is unfitted, but long wheelbase benches can be fitted to match allowing seating for another 6 occupants for £395 fitted. It currently houses a load mat, and could be used as a large boot if required!  (Bikes and camping!) The vents in the roof still work and can be used if more cooling is required.

Out on the road, the 300TDI engine gives a much better experience over standard, giving brisk acceleration and a more relaxed cruising experience when at speed - far more capable of keeping with modern traffic. The 750 tyres give the effect of an overdrive, allowing a higher and quieter top speed. The comfier seats and stereo make this a more pleasant place to be, and make longer trips less of a chore. This would therefore be a perfect vintage camping vehicle - lots of room for kids and bikes and kit, and a good engine set up. This 109 feels great to drive with sharp brakes, direct steering and a turn of acceleration!

In summary then, if you have been looking for a classic Land Rover ®, but can't fit the whole family in an 88, then this could be for you. With the added benefit of a 300TDI engine and the potential for an 11 seat layout, this is worth considering if you want to use the vehicle more frequently, whilst looking great too!
