Land Rover ® Series 3 109 *200TDI* (XUY)

Sold

For sale, Land Rover ® Series 3 109 Ragtop in Drab Olive (1980).

Will be supplied with 12 months MOT. 200TDI Diesel. Overdrive. 7 seater. Parabolic Springs with Pro Comp Shocks. Released from the Military in 2002.

Here for sale we have this smart Series 3 109 in popular ragtop configuration. On the outside, the vehicle has lots of nice period military features such as front and rear lamp guards, rear grab handles, and a NATO hitch with additional rear reflectors. Defender Mirrors have been fitted to improve visibility, and the vehicle has a recent sand canvas with twin windows in the sides and one in the rear. The vehicle sits on larger, road biased 750 tyres to extend the gearing of the vehicle and give a more relaxed cruise at speed.  Adding all these things together creates a vehicle with a pleasing military patina, which stands well.

On the inside, there are three standard seats in the front of the vehicle, along with deluxe matting in the footwells. The rear has a pair of bench seats to allow seating for seven occupants, with a large load space and a load mat to the rear floor. There are some additional storage lockers towards the rear of the cabin, which would work well as a space for tools or to store items out of view. The battery is securely retained at the rear of the bulkhead. This space would be ideal for taking the whole family along on trips, along with the dogs, bikes or just about anything - the rear tip ups can also fold away to reveal the entire load space, which could be used for anything from logs to scrap metal! All of this means that this vehicle enjoys a large amount of versatility which short wheel base ragtops cannot offer.

Out on the road is where this old girl really shines, having been shown some significant attention in the past. The 200TDI engine, which has double the power of the standard petrol, has been mated to an overdrive and the aforementioned 750 tyres, giving a higher cruising speed and better fuel economy. The parabolic springs and pro competition shocks give a much suppler ride over standard and means this old truck  handles the rough stuff well! It gives a very pleasing driving experience, allowing the driver to keep more easily with modern traffic. It stops just as it should.

In summary then, if you are looking for a versatile Land Rover®, which could be used for anything from going away with the whole family to a real load lugging machine, then this could be for you. With the modern running gear, military looks and pleasant interior, it should prove cheaper to run than a standard 109 whilst looking great & being far more comfortable during regular use.
