Land Rover ® Series 2a in Mid Grey *Tax and MOT Exempt* (ELP)

For sale,  Land Rover ® Series 2a in Mid Grey (1970)

MOT until July 31st 2018 then MOT exempt thereafter. Tax Exempt. 2286cc Diesel . Free Wheeling Hubs. Recently rebuilt onto a brand new chassis. 750 tyres. Previously sold by us and therefore "known about."

We are delighted to present for sale once again  a "crossover" model 2a, presented in popular soft top configuration. Externally, this vehicle sports the Maltese grill and headlights in the wings with hard dash, as was produced from 1969-1972. This model was the inspiration for the Series 3 and not many were made. It boasts a set of 750 tyres for increased ride height and better cruising, wing mounted mirrors, period plates, bonnet mounted spare and a brand new canvas. Free wheeling hubs and a Kenlowe fan aid in the fuel economy department, which, in conjunction with the diesel engine, should give better economy than the outgoing petrol unit. Aluminium door tops are also fitted, so they won't rust - a nice addition. It is also pleasing to see all the cappings survive in original galvanised condition, including the front bumper. Correct Vintage Plates have been fitted.

The interior has three good front seats, and there are deluxe mats throughout. The rear has a set of bench seats fitted, to allow for seven seated including the driver. There's a heater, and it's nice to see the correct "hard dash" one associates with a 2a model.

Out on the road, the vehicle fires keenly, with minimal glow and drives and stops as it should. It gives a pleasing period driving experience, with the added 750 tyres reducing engine noise in the cabin by extending the gearing.

Perhaps where this vehicle stands apart from others is the fact that it's recently been treated to a new, replacement chassis - so it's as strong now as it was in 1970. This is a real bonus, as it effectively means that the vehicle will not require welding or chassis work for many years - it also means that during that process, other jobs get done, and new parts get fitted. This is evident when looking both under the bonnet and the arches.

In summary, if you are looking for a sturdy, tax exempt soft top 2a then this is worth a look. With seating for seven and cheap running costs and classic insurance, coupled to the recent chassis, this vehicle should prove to be cheap to run and own.
